College Planning

Start planning for college early. There are many things to consider after choosing a college and deciding how to pay for college, like where you will live, how you will get around, what resources your campus offers students, and how you can get involved on campus.

Here are some resources to help you get started:

Paying for College

Pell Promise Scholarships

Most universities in the state of Utah provide a Pell Promise scholarship at their institution. General criteria for each school is listed below. Please visit each university's website for more specific information and deadlines.

Access Utah Promise Scholarship (SUU)
  • Utah residents
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have not received an associate degree or higher postsecondary degree
  • Must demonstrate financial need
Cougar Pell Promise (BYU)
  • Apply for and be admitted to BYU during the senior year of high school
  • Complete the online scholarship application by deadline
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and receive a federal Pell Grant
Dream Weber Scholarship (WSU)
  • Utah residents
  • Complete the FAFSA and receive a federal Pell Grant
  • Enroll as an undergraduate student with less than 150 credit hours
  • Demonstrate financial need
For Utah Scholarship (U of U)
  • Utah residents
  • Complete the FAFSA and receive a federal Pell Grant
  • Enroll as a first-time, full-time undergraduate student
